Just a reminder for all 6th grade students who are attending the  Great Growth Extravaganza at Williston Elementary School,  to meet Ms. Gabriel at the front of the school at the start of second period today.  Please check in with your second period teacher first.


If you brought your emergency card, please bring to Mrs. Wise immediately.


Seniors-Sign up in Mrs. Gowland or Mr. Hicks class to meet with Mrs. Darling-James.  Mrs. James will be able to help with college applications as well as financial aid applications for any college and scholarship searches.

University early admissions is rapidly approaching, Nov., 1st! If you need assistance, Mrs. Warren will be available after school Weds. 10/25 for assistance in the PD room.

JROTC is hosting a Single Elimination Tournament this Saturday including (basketball, softball, volleyball & track).  Teams participating in competition are from Orlando, Ocala, Gainesville & Dunnellon.  Admission to this event is free, no food allowed concessions are available.  Come out support the Williston Red Devil JROTC Battalion, games begin at 9:30 am.

All Middle School boys and girls planning to tryout for this years MS basketball teams must place their names on the sign-up sheet located in the cafeteria during your lunch time. Remember that in order to be eligible to tryout for any Middle Sports team, 7th and 8th graders must have earned a minimum 2.0 for 2nd semester of last year and have a current athletic physical on file at WMHS. 6th graders are academically eligible at this time and only need a current athletic physical on file at WMHS to participate. Listen for information concerning "open gym" next week for all girls grades 6-12. Tryout information will be announced next week


Congratulations to the Varsity volleyball team on the district championship against the Trenton Tigers.


If you are a 9th -12th grader wanting to be apart of the Bass Fishing Club go to the school website and it is on our home page.


Teachers please check for dress code as we move throughout the day.


Students remember cell phones are not allowed to be out during class or in the hallway.


Juniors will be selling halloween candy grams for $2 thru the 27th and will be delivered on the 31st to your first period class  first period.Please see Mrs. Pompeo  or a junior class member for an order form.


The Junior Class  and Hosa club are holding a car wash Saturday the 28th at the old high school from 10am to 4 pm. Donations accepted


Attention all Girls Soccer players: tryouts will be cancelled after school today. Coach Morrow will see you Monday after school for the last day of tryouts.

Dear Parent or Guardian:

Our school receives federal funds for Title I, Part A programs. Throughout the school year, we will be providing you with important information about this law and your child’s education. This letter lets you know about your right to request information about the qualifications of the classroom staff working with your child. Please be assured that you will be informed about your child’s performance level on the state achievement tests, FCAT and FSA.


You have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers(s). If you request this information, the district or school will provide you with answers to the following questions as soon as possible:

1.  Has your child’s teacher met state licensing requirements for the grade level and subject in which the teacher is providing instruction?

2.  What are the college degree majors and the fields of discipline for any graduate degrees or certificates the teacher holds?

If teaching under emergency status:

3.  Is the teacher working under an emergency status for which state licensing requirements have been waived?

You also have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of the paraprofessional(s) assisting your child’s teacher(s). If you request this information, the district or school will provide you with answers to the following questions as soon as possible.

1.  Is your child is receiving Title I, Part A services from a paraprofessional?

If yes,

2.  Has she/he completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education?

3.  Has she/he completed an associate’s (or higher) degree?

4.  Has she/he met a rigorous standard of quality by meeting our state’s certification procedure for determining the quality of paraprofessional staff?

5.  Does she/he have the (a) knowledge of, and ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics or (b) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in learning activities such as homework, reading readiness, learning or reach, writing, mathematics, and other support as appropriate?


If you would like to request this information, please contact your child’s school by a written request submitted to the receptionist, mail, fax or e-mail to the attention of the principal, or phone in your request to the receptionist at 352-528-3542 and leave a return call phone number.


If at any time your student has been taught for four (4) or more consecutive weeks by a teacher(s) that is not highly qualified, you will be notified by the school of this information.
